Competition
Competition Nights
Competition is held each Friday afternoon commencing 5:30pm. Competition nights will be brought forward to Wednesday nights before Zone and Regional Championships. Dates are listed on the Events page.
U/6-U/12 have 5 events each competition night while U/13-U/20 have 6 events. If we have a washed out night that night will be held on the next available week. A schedule of events is available in the office and in each age group folder.
To be eligible for any award at our club an athlete U6 – U13 must compete in a minimum of 66% of all available events, and U14 – U20 must compete in 50% of all available events for the season, from the start of the season.

Family, Fun and Fitness
We ask all Parents to encourage their children as much as possible but please try not to push them to the stage where they feel they are competing just to please you. Little Athletics is run for the purpose of developing a child's athletic ability and competitive spirit.
Remember the Little Athletic Slogan:
FAMILY, FUN and FITNESS
All parents are encouraged to make the season a rewarding and fun filled experience for their children by letting them achieve their goals and by receiving YOUR support for them.

A Word to Parents
Because Little Athletics is a totally voluntary organisation, our centre cannot function effectively and efficiently without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an event; managing an age group; recording results; working in the canteen; to name just a few.
Additional assistance is always required on the Centre committees and all parents are encouraged to become involved. Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents can become fully involved in their child’s sporting interests.

Rules of Competition
Field Events
These require Judges for measuring and recording, helpers to return throwing implements to the circle, set the high jump bar in position, and rake the long and triple jump pits between jumps. Each of the discus, shot put, long jump, high jump and triple jump require approximately 3-4 parents to assist in the smooth running of events on competition nights. We aim to have 2 of each of the field event stations in operation each night.
PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO HELP RUN EVENTS EACH FRIDAY NIGHT. AS WELL, AGE GROUP MARSHALS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CHILDREN AS THEY PROGRESS FROM EVENT TO EVENT FOR THAT AGE GROUP.
